Péter Szalay - "I am looking for a human"
Exhibition | 17 October - 14 November 2014
The title of Péter Szalay's solo exhibition refers to Diogenes of Synope: he used to stroll about in full daylight with a lamp. and when asked what he was doing, he would answer, "I am just looking for a human".
In the Institute of Contemporary Art man-researcher visitors has a
really hard job too. There are many signs of their nearness who pairs a
geometrical form with an ideology, or moralizing with a fictional story and sometimes
they curve story of it about who has the philosopher walk away by them with
steadiness on his face. But about the human who hides in world of mechanical
flowers thriving from exsymbols and animals who are getting rid of the weight
of lessons in the first moment the only thing what can be said with absolute
certainty: he/she has a great sense of humor.
ICA-D presents Péter Szalay the second time, this time alone after 2010 (Trust), presenting sculptor artists from Pécs. The exhibition "Looking for human" with its kinetic sculptures, objects, installations and a painting uninhibitedly washes together the natural phenomena with ideologies with childlike attitude which shows undeniably how unhealthy is for the talking animals if their existence is so interwoven by politics like ours today.
Vernissage: 17 October 2014, on Friday at 6 pm
