Guest: János Háy
János Háy was born on April 1, 1960, in Vámosmikola, Hungary. He completed his studies in Russian and History at Szeged and in Aesthetics at ELTE. He worked as a teacher until 1989, then as an editor for periodicals (Holnap, Pesti Szalon, Palatinus) until 2004. In the first half of the eighties he came out with poems. His first collection of poetry was published in ’89 (I Walk Over to You on the Promenade). Since then he has published 17 books. Apart from poems, he also writes short stories, novels and plays. Several of his drawings and paintings have also been published. He illustrates his books and makes their covers himself. Recently, he has made success as a playwright. His Géza-boy and Feri Herner’s Old Man were translated into several languages and were also staged abroad. He lives in Budapest. He has two children. Currently, he is a freelance writer.
